Can my HomeSaver Account be used from payphones?
Yes you can use the local access number from the city you are in
- or the national access number. This allows you to make telephone
calls from any touch-tone telephone in Australia. This is charged
at the cost of a local call.
Can I still save money on phone calls using a mobile phone?
Yes, even with mobile surcharges, it is usually cheaper to call
internationally from a mobile using Alpha. You need to check with
your mobile company. All their charges vary from plan to plan. We
are not responsible for your mobile phone charges. Check with an
Alpha customer service representative to see if we can save you
money on your mobile phone bills.
When the operator asks me to enter my account number and
PIN, do I speak the numbers or enter them into my phone?
You enter [press] the numbers into your phone, you do not "speak"
them. Pressing the numbers allows our computer to recognise the
numbers you are dialling.
When I dial my account and PIN, it keeps saying invalid
PIN?
You may not be phoning from a touch-tone phone. Put down the phone
and then redial but start by pressing the * button. Once you have
pushed the * button your telephone will remain touch-tone. If you
want to return to a pulse phone push the * button again after making
your call. Or you may have an Optus connection. At the moment only
some people with an Optus account can access our service.
Can I use my Credit card to sign up online?
Yes you can top up on line as long as an alpha customer service
rep has already registered your credit card details.
Are there any fees when opening or topping-up my account?
No, there are no fees applicable when opening or topping up your
account. Every single cent you put on your account is your credit
to make your calls and you receive 10% FREE credite everytime you
top up!
Am I able to use my Alpha account when I am overseas?
Yes, you will be able to access your account from over 40 destinations
worldwide. Please consult the Global Calling information for a list
of countries and access numbers. More countries are coming soon.
I do not have a credit card, am I still able to open and
top-up my Alpha account?
Yes, you can use the following as methods of payment: cheque, debit
card or postal order. The minimum amount that you can open an account
with is $30. Simply go to submit your application form via this
website. Or you can download an application form fill it in and

How else can I top up or open my account without a credit
card?
You can apply for auto-top-up or organise to deposit into our account
by direct debit. Call our Customer Care 1300 651 168 for details.
If I am not able use the Internet how do I open or top-up
my account?
Simply call Customer Care and they will credit your account provided
a credit card is being used. Alternatively you can mail a cheque
or postal order made out to "Alpha Telecom" with your
personal or account details on the back to: Alpha Telecom P.O. Box
1624 Crows Nest NSW
What features does my online account have?

I keep buying Phonecards but dialling the account number
and PIN can be time consuming, is there a quicker method of making
a call?
Yes, it is called Alpha HomeSaver (Direct Account or Flexi Account).
By registering your allocated phone number/s with Alpha you are
either pre-selected to our network or you dial 1428 and we will
override your normal network and connect you to our network without
you having to enter your account number and PIN.
If I start running out of money while on a call, will there
be any warning?
Yes, there will be a warning message before you finally run out
of money. If your balance reaches zero whilst you are on a call,
you can automatically be connected to Customer Care to top-up your
account.
Can this account be used for local calls and calls to mobiles?
You can use your Alpha account to make national and international
calls as well as calls to mobile telephones. Local calls on Alpha
Telecom can be made by dialing the four digit over ride code first.
Local calls in Sydney and Melbourne are charged at a flat rate of
15.9 cents. Locals calls outside of Sydney and Melbourne will be
charged at a higher rate. Whichever service option you choose -
you can continue to use your usual telephone company for your local
calls. And of course, all emergency calls, 1300 and 1800 numbers
always go through via your standard telephone company (e.g. Telstra)
Do calls to international mobiles attract a surcharge?
Some mobile operators in other countries do surcharge calls made
to their network/s.
Do calls made from Australian mobiles attract a surcharge?
Yes, but it is still usually cheaper to call international from
a mobile phone using the Alpha network. You need to check with your
mobile company. All their charges vary from plan to plan. We cannot
be responsible for your mobile phone charges.
When using my mobile phone do I press the send key after
dialling the destination?
No. By pressing 'send' after the destination your call will be sent
through the mobile network. Once you have connected into the Alpha
network, dial your destination number and then simply wait and Alpha
